My goal in accepting commissions is for the process to be both gratifying for me as an artist and pleasurable for those who have chosen to integrate my art into their living or working environment.
PRICING
I price my work using a formula that factors in the dimensions of the work, the costliness of the materials to be used, and the labour-intensity of the techniques and processes that will be employed in creating the work.
As a client, please first consider the following points to kick-start the process.
1. Do I have a photo in mind which I would like to be used and do I have a clear and detailed digital copy to give to the artist?
2. What would I like my art work painted on? Canvas, Wood, Canvas Board?
3. What materials should be used? I work mainly in Acrylics but I also sometimes use Mixed Media.
4. What is my budget?
5. How big should this piece be? Dimensions? Weight? Thickness?
6. Do I have enough space to fit a large piece in my living area?
7. Will this piece be framed? The bigger the piece, the more expensive the frame!
You, as a client have the opportunity to discuss these details with me.
Choosing a photo for portraits
I work from photographs only and do not hold live sittings.
When choosing a photograph for me to work from, the photo must be clear, show details and the larger the better. Unfortunately, I cannot work from blurry photos or photos where the subject is too far away. I must be able to clearly see the facial features of a subject. If you do not have a digital file of the photo I can scan a genuine photograph and save as a digital file also.
Once we have come to an agreement based on your budget and design then we will move on to the second stage.
I will quote you the amount of the piece including all costs then we can come to an agreement on how this should be paid.
If the painting is quoted £500 and under a £100 non-refundable deposit will be required.
If the painting is quoted over £500 a 20% non-refundable deposit will be laid down and this will be deducted from the final price of the piece.
For example:
Your commission costs 300.00 pounds, so that means that 100.00 pounds will be laid down before I can start the painting. This will be held by the artist to cover the cost of materials / labour in the event that you should no longer want the painting when it’s finished.
On completion of the painting and providing you are still happy then the remainder of 200.00 is still payable.
This may be paid in several ways.
1. Paid in full on completion of the painting.
2. Paid in 2 monthly instalments of 100.00 pounds.
If opting for 1 then this can be paid in cash or paid via bank transfer.
If opting for 2 this can be paid in cash or paid via bank transfer.
If your painting is for example £600 then a 20% non-refundable deposit will be laid down to cover the costs. So your deposit will be £120. If the painting is £1,000 then a deposit of £200 and so on.
Example:
Painting costs £1,000
20% Deposit: £200.00
Balance: £800
Paid in full or 2 x monthly instalments by bank transfer of £400.00
Or paid in full on completeion.
How long will my painting take?
How long is a piece of string?
The timing of the painting can obviously vary from a few weeks to a few months. As the creative process is dependable on a lot of factors, I like to give a 3-month period for completion of the piece. If the piece is finished before that then I will notify the client straight away and arrangements can be made. If for any reason it is going to take longer I will inform you as soon as I can and the painting will only be deemed finished when the artist feels she has achieved the best possible result.
Please note that if you should choose to pay your balance in 2 monthly instalments but I finish the painting earlier, I will not be able to release the painting until all payments have been met.
I always offer a flexible service for my clients and am open to discuss your commission at any time.
It is of highest importance to me that you are nothing less of happy with your painting and the whole process from start to finish.
